Istanbul to Cairo 1999-2000

In 1999 I did a cycle journey from Istanbul to Cairo.

It took me 6 months and i covered 6000 km's. From Turkey i went through Syria and Jordan to reach Egypt.

I had three goals in mind for doing this trip,

1. Cycle from Istanbul to Cairo,

2. Cycle the whole lenth of the Nile from Abu Simbel in the south to Alexandria in the north and

3. To reach Cairo at the end of 1999 and greet the new century in front of the pyramids at Giza.

I arrived in Cairo on the 18th of December having achieved all three goals.

The links will take you to the route description and some info that i wrote about each of these countries. It is really only useful to cyclist but it makes for good reading.
